As the owner and managing director of a family-owned business, Rob Harris places a high value on his relationships with his employees. The charity work and contributions that Rob makes are extremely generous, and he frequently donates to organisations that resonate with him on a personal level.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance is the primary charity that we support, as Sophie, Rob’s daughter, would not be here today if it were not for their efforts. Sophie is still with us today thanks to the quick response of the helicopter and crew, who were able to save her life after a devastating car accident in which she was involved.
Polzeath Beach in Cornwall is where our storey began in 1978, when a small village shop attached to a petrol station began selling and renting out surfboards and wetsuits to the first wave riders in the world. After the previous owner of the filling station retired, Mr. Harris and his wife Beverly Harris purchased the property, thereby establishing the first Ann’s Cottage store in the world. Holidaymakers and locals alike now had a place to get their beachwear before hitting the Polzeath sand and waves, and the name “Ann’s Cottage” was born as a result of this.
YOW CHIBA 30″ CLASSIC SERIES SKATEBOARD – BLUE
YOW Skateboards is a Spanish company that manufactures surfskateboards in Barcelona. A revolutionary surfskate system, known as YOW (Your Own Wave), allows you to surf on the street while using your longboard as a surfskate.
YOW was created as an alternative to surfing on flat days and as a tool to make surfing more accessible to surfers who live in landlocked areas. After years of research and development, we have developed a system that gives you the closest feeling possible to surfing on land. With YOW, you can pump, carve, and rip the streets apart.
As with many other skate products managed by HLC, YOW surfskate products are manufactured in the company’s cutting-edge factory in the Basque Country, which is located between San Sebastian and the world-renowned waves of the Biarritz area in France.
A surfskate is typically a wide cruiser with a special front truck (called a “surf truck”) that has a much greater range of motion than a normal cruiser, allowing it to turn much more quickly than a normal cruiser. In summary, the front truck of a conventional cruiser is significantly different from the front truck of a surfskate.
A Surfskate is a skateboard that was designed to be used for street surfing! Surfskate tracks allow for extremely tight turns and the ability to perform typical surfing manoeuvres. A surfskate can be pumped while travelling, which means that it is possible to increase speed without ever touching the ground.

YOW SHADOW 33.5″ SKATEBOARD – WHITE
A skateboard is a type of sporting equipment that is used for the sport of skating. Most of the time, they are made out of maple plywood that has been specially designed to hold 7-8 ply polyurethane wheels that are attached to the underside by a pair of skateboarding trucks.
In structures such as a bowl or half pipe, the skateboarder moves by pushing with one foot while keeping the other foot balanced on the board, or by pumping one’s legs in order to maintain balance on the board. A skateboard can also be used by simply standing on the deck of the board while on a downward slope and allowing gravity to propel the board and the rider forward and upward. Riding “goofy” is defined as the rider’s leading foot being on the right side of their body; riding “regular” is defined as the rider’s leading foot being on the left side of their body. It is referred to as “switch riding” when the rider is normally regular but chooses to ride goofy (or vice versa) on a particular day. Riding “mongo” is a term used to describe a skater who prefers to push with their back foot rather than their front foot. It has negative connotations in the skateboarding community in terms of style and effectiveness.
Electric skateboards have been on the market since the early 2000s. These skateboards no longer require the use of the feet to propel the board; instead, an electric motor propels the board, which is powered by an electric battery.
In the United States, there is no governing body that declares any regulations on what constitutes a skateboard or the components from which it is constructed. For most of its history, the skateboard has conformed to both contemporary fashion and the ever-changing array of stunts performed by riders/users, all of which necessitated the board’s ability to perform a specific function. The shape of the board is largely determined by the function it is intended to perform. Longboards are a type of skateboard that has a longer wheelbase and larger, softer wheels than other types of skateboard.
The longboard and the shortboard are the two most common types of skateboards used today. The shape of the skateboard is also important: in order to perform tricks, the skateboard must be concaved. Longboards are typically faster and are primarily used for cruising and racing, whereas shortboards are primarily used for tricking and riding in skateparks and other public places.

YOW WAIKIKI 40″ SKATEBOARD – CREAM & FLOWERS
Our longest board, the Waikiki 40″, is 40 inches long. Originally from Hawaii, the classic longboards that locals in Waikiki have been surfing for decades were the inspiration for the shape of this board. Because of its large surface area and extremely long wheelbase (26″), it is ideal for practising cross-steps, wide turns, and nose rides. Molded with a low concave for an authentic retro feel, it is equipped with the Meraki (S5) system and 66x51mm 82A (hard) wheels for a smooth ride on a variety of terrains and conditions.
YOW Skateboards is a Spanish company that manufactures surfskateboards in Barcelona. A revolutionary surfskate system, known as YOW (Your Own Wave), allows you to surf on the street while using your longboard as a surfskate.
To begin surfing with surfskate trucks and brands, I recommend you avoid SwellTech, YOW, Smoothstar, and SpiceSkate as they are all too difficult to learn with. Although these surfskates are designed for more advanced riders, they are not the best surfskates for beginners to learn to surf. The most stable beginner surfskates are those that are designed for beginners.
The deck size and the front truck of a longboard and a surfskate are the most significant differences between the two types of boards. Decks on longboards are typically longer and wider than those on surfskates, which are typically cruiser decks in shape. In addition, surfskate trucks have a unique geometry and/or a spring-based swivel system that allows them to perform surf-style turns.
