Tastecard
Tastecard was established in 2006 and immediately shook up the restaurant business. Because our CEO, Matt Turner, experienced a slowdown in sales at his own pub around midweek, he made it his mission to alter this pattern, which affected hundreds of other businesses in the hospitality industry. The discounted meals were meant to help both eateries and their customers live more comfortably within their means. Tastecard was born. We began our adventure with a small group of London eateries in tow, all of which were advertising two-for-one specials or fifty percent off menu items.
And it went off with a bang! In expanding our product nationwide, we have become the largest eating club in the United Kingdom, with thousands of well-known and lesser-known eateries alike participating and providing our members with the same mouthwatering savings. We quickly expanded into other types of deals after the success of our inexpensive restaurant venture. With the addition of theatres, attractions, pizza delivery, DVD rentals, and online savings, we expanded beyond the realm of mere food delivery. We’ve grown into a household name with over 2 million subscribers, and our original mission to “help individuals and businesses succeed” remains at the heart of all we do.
What is a Tastecard?
Tastecard is a subscription service that gives you 50% off or 2 for 1 deals at thousands of restaurants across the UK. Plus, you can find discounts on food delivery, movie streaming, cinemas and attraction tickets. You can subscribe monthly, for 6 months or annually.
What discounts are available?
Discounts on the following are available to Tastecard members:
- 2 for 1 on meals or 50% off
- Save at least 10% when ordering food for delivery on the Tastecard app
- Up to 33% off movies – streaming and cinema tickets
- Pizza delivery
- Up to 50% off attractions
How does Tastecard work?
If you want immediate access to your funds after joining, you’ll need to download the digital app on your phone.
If you want to do something like go out to eat, see a movie, order pizza, etc., all you have to do is input your zip code. Once you click that button, a list of all the deals that fit your criteria will be displayed.
When it comes time to pay for your meal, simply pull up your Tastecard in the app on your phone and display it to the server. You should call beforehand to make sure the restaurant will honour the offer, though, as some places have strict guidelines.
If you want to see a movie in a theatre or watch one online, you’ll need to order ecodes from the Tastecard app or website. You can use the service provider’s website to redeem these codes. The Vue, Cineworld, and Odeon theatres are all there, and you can also watch movies on Rakuten.
Online ticket purchases are the only way to save money on outings. Thorpe Park, Chessington, Alton Towers, and Legoland are just a few of the attractions available.
Which restaurants accept the Tastecard?
Alterations are coming to the Tastecard restaurants that offer specials. You’ll see that it’s not just the big names in food that are offering discounts of this magnitude (two for one meals, fifty percent off), but that there are lots of locally owned eateries included as well. On the other hand, there are discounts available from:
- Domino’s Pizza
- Pizza Hut
- Zizzi
- Prezzo
- Bella Italia
- Tiger Tiger
How much does membership cost?
An initial 30-day trial period is provided at no cost, with further renewals costing £5.99 per month. In case you change your mind, cancelling is always an option.
Or, you can pay £19.99 upfront for 6 months, or £3.33 per month. If you’d rather save money over the course of a year, a subscription costs £34.99 ($29.20), which breaks down to just $2.92 per month.
Important to note
It’s vital to double-check that there are no restrictions on your preferred offer before placing an order at a specific restaurant. Some stores, for instance, do not honour coupons over the weekend.
You may not be eligible for perks like cheap movie tickets if you receive a free Tastecard through one of the programmes I describe below. You’ll need to pay Tastecard+’s nominal monthly cost to get this feature.
Keep in mind that your Tastecard subscription will automatically renew every year. Don’t keep paying for a subscription you aren’t using. If you don’t cancel your subscription, you’ll be charged indefinitely.
How to find a free Tastecard
A Tastecard can be obtained for no cost in two different methods. When I say “free,” though, I usually mean that it comes as part of a larger membership plan. Of course, you should check it out if you already have a subscription.
Free trial
If you’re a new member, you can take out a free trial for 30 days to see if you can make use of the offers.
RBS and NatWest
You may be eligible for a free Tastecard if you hold a Silver, Platinum, Student, or Graduate account with RBS or NatWest. To learn more, drop by either Natwest or RBS.
CSSC
Government employees are the primary target audience for this membership programme. However, anyone, not just government employees, can become a member by responding to an invitation made by an existing member. You’ll save on movie tickets, get cash back while shopping, and gain access to Tastecard benefits, all courtesy of English Heritage.
What other people say
When composing my reviews, I frequently refer to the feedback of others. Tastecard has an average Trustpilot rating of 3.7 out of 5. Tastecard has received mostly positive feedback, with customers praising the company’s responsiveness and the value they receive for their money. Most of the complaints seem to originate from customers whose subscriptions were automatically renewed and who then had trouble getting their money back.
So, is Tastecard worth it?
Your own routines will determine this. Even if you only use it once every few months, you’ll get your money back if it includes eateries that you frequent.
Tastecard may only save you £1 or £2 per ticket, but those savings add up quickly if you frequently visit the movies.
