Club Med Review UK: Are Its All-Inclusive Holidays Worth the Price?

Club Med resort holiday in Marbella

I approached Club Med as a holiday buyer rather than a brochure reader: what is actually included, which resorts have a clear use case, and where does the polished all-inclusive promise start to fray? The UK site currently presents more than 60 destinations, from Mediterranean beach resorts to French Alps ski properties, with prices changing by dates, room type and transport.

My short answer is that Club Med can be excellent value for families and active travellers who will use the included facilities. It is less convincing for a couple who wants a quiet, small-scale hotel or for anyone comparing only the headline room price. The package is broad, but the details matter.

What Club Med actually includes

The central product is not a room, but a bundled stay. Depending on the resort and booking, the package can cover accommodation, gourmet meals, drinks, entertainment, Wi-Fi, taxes, tips, sports and transfers. Flights can also be added through the holiday package search. At ski resorts, the value proposition becomes more tangible because lift passes and lessons can sit inside the same price.

That convenience is Club Med’s strongest argument. I found the offer easiest to understand when viewed as a weekly budget rather than as a hotel tariff. You can still spend extra on spa treatments, excursions, some childcare age bands and selected activities, so “all-inclusive” should not be read as “nothing can cost more”. The site also advertises a £150 low deposit, plus ABTA and ATOL protection for relevant bookings.

  • Food and drinks: buffet and restaurant dining, snacks and local or international drinks vary by resort.
  • Activity access: sports, pools, fitness, entertainment and guided options are a major part of the offer.
  • Family support: Kids Clubs cover several age groups, while younger-child services may cost extra.
  • Ski structure: selected winter packages include the pass, instruction and equipment-related convenience.

Palmiye shows the sun-resort side of Club Med’s range.

The catch is that inclusions are not perfectly uniform. Before booking, I would open the exact resort page, check what is included in that season, and price flights and transfers rather than assuming every package has the same formula.

The four stays worth comparing

Magna Marbella was the most rounded family pick in the research. The offer page showed from £1,521 per person per week, with a hillside setting near Marbella, a lagoon-style family pool, an adults-only Zen pool, padel, golf, a flying trapeze and two restaurants. The resort page lists 24 included activities, which is a persuasive number if different members of a group want different days.

The limitation is scale and location. This is a large resort on a hillside, not a boutique base in the old town. Recent on-site review material praised the food, pools and activity programme, but also flagged the uphill walk and the possibility that French is the dominant everyday language. My verdict: strongest all-rounder for active families, provided you are happy with a resort bubble and you check the Magna Marbella details before booking.

Da Balaia resort in Portugal
Da Balaia is the lower visible starting price among the compared sun stays.

For a warmer coastal break, Palmiye in Turkey appeared at from £1,395 per person per week. Its appeal is straightforward: a Mediterranean beach, fragrant gardens, family and adults-only pools, plus activities such as wakeboarding and Pilates. That mix makes it more compelling for a group that wants a genuine resort holiday rather than a sightseeing itinerary.

Da Balaia in Portugal was the price-led option at from £1,295 per person per week on the current offer page. It is a sensible shortlist candidate for Algarve sunshine, family facilities and an easier short-haul proposition. The caveat is simple: the lowest displayed price is a starting point, not a quote for your dates. Compare the full package, room category and flights before calling it a bargain.

  1. Choose sun or ski first, because the included-value equation is different.
  2. Open the individual resort page and note the included versus extra-cost activities.
  3. Price your exact dates, guests, room and transport together.
  4. Check childcare ages, language, transfers and cancellation conditions before paying.

Where Club Med makes the most sense

The ski side deserves separate attention. Valmorel was listed from £1,614 per person per week after a visible reduction. The proposition is unusually easy to assess because the price can include the elements that make a ski trip expensive and fiddly: lessons, a lift pass, meals and entertainment. For a first family ski holiday, that planning relief may be worth paying for when you compare Valmorel’s package with a self-built trip.

It is not automatically cheap. Ski equipment, room level, travel dates and premium accommodation can push the total upward, and experienced skiers who do not need lessons may value the all-inclusive ski format less. Still, the bundled format reduces the risk of a holiday where every day requires another booking. That is a real benefit, particularly when travelling with children.

Valmorel makes the all-inclusive ski calculation easier to see.

My practical pros and cons are therefore quite clear.

  • Pro: one booking can cover meals, activities, childcare and transport.
  • Pro: the range works for families, couples, sports fans and skiers.
  • Pro: included activities create value beyond the room itself.
  • Con: visible prices change and may exclude the extras your group needs.
  • Con: large resorts can feel busy, structured or linguistically uneven.
Club Med all-inclusive ski holiday
Ski packages are where bundled convenience can be most valuable.

There is also a useful middle ground between the headline deals and the luxury resorts. Use the Club Med resort search to filter destinations, then compare the family holiday options, beach stays and ski deals against the same dates. That is more reliable than comparing a beach price from one month with a ski price from another.

Check dates and included extras

The evidence-led verdict

Club Med is worth considering when convenience is part of your budget. Its best quality is not the promise of luxury on every stay; it is the reduction of holiday admin. Families can eat, swim, play and use childcare without rebuilding the itinerary each morning. Skiers can get a clearer total cost. Active adults have enough organised options to avoid paying separately for every diversion.

The weaknesses are just as important. The resort format can feel big and programmed. Prices are dynamic, so a visible “from” figure should never be treated as your final cost. Some services and younger-age childcare can be extra, and the language or location may not suit every traveller. I would not book on brand reputation alone.

Family enjoying a Club Med holiday
The family proposition is strongest when everyone uses different facilities.

My shortlist is Magna Marbella for activity-rich family travel, Da Balaia for a lower visible sun-holiday entry point, Palmiye for beach-and-sports balance, and Valmorel when ski logistics are the priority. Check the exact resort details, price the full package and read the conditions. If those checks work for your dates, Club Med’s all-inclusive structure can justify its premium.
