In 1971, in York, we were formed by Catherine Paver, an ambitious mother of whom you may be proud, who borrowed two hundred pounds from the bank (she said it was for a sofa!) to pursue her dream of creating shoes in a wide variety of styles to fit every customer’s feet.

Their company grew from its humble beginnings selling shoes at village halls and house parties, thanks to her drive to find and sell stylish, comfortable footwear. Cathy’s sons Graham, Stuart (now the company’s managing director), and Ian later joined the family firm and contributed to its growth, fueling the company’s ambitions to become an industry pioneer in comfortable, fashionable footwear.
