IWC WATCHES
For more than 150 years, IWC Schaffhausen the International Watch Company has been a frontrunner among luxury watch companies thanks to its ability to blend unmatched accuracy with stunning aesthetics. In 1868, American engineer and watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones went to Switzerland with an idea to merge Swiss traditional craftsmanship with foreign technology. This was the beginning of IWC watches.
The IWC Portugieser family of watches has become an icon of high-end design, carrying the brand’s exclusive in-house movements and featuring exquisite dial designs that are enhanced by hand-finishing, polishing, and domed sapphire crystal glass. The inspiration for this line comes from a tale from the 1930s, when two Portuguese gentlemen asked for a wristwatch with the accuracy of a marine chronometer.
1. IWC WATCH PILOTS MARK XX
A pilot’s watch should be as simple and uncomplicated as possible, and the Mark XX achieves just that. The renowned Mark 11, an amagnetic instrument watch created by IWC in 1948 for the British Royal Air Force’s navigators and pilots, has been succeeded by this model. This model has a 40 mm diameter, rhodium-plated casing, a green dial, and hands that are resistant against corrosion. Luminous elements, a triangular index at 12 o’clock, and a high-contrast display with white numerals and indices make the watch legible in any light. The precision is guaranteed by the 120-hour power reserve and the 32111 caliber, which is manufactured by IWC and features automatic winding.
Even in the case of an abrupt decrease in pressure, the front glass will remain securely attached thanks to the specific fasteners used to secure it. The Mark XX Pilot’s Watch has a brown leather strap fastened with a pin clasp and can withstand water pressure up to 10 bar. The strap may be swapped out for a different one with no tools needed because of the built-in EasX-CHANGE® technology.
2. IWC WATCH PORTUGIESER CHRONOGRAPH
An iconic timepiece by IWC Schaffhausen, the Portugieser Chronograph in timeless black and steel. A case made of strong, corrosion-resistant stainless steel integrated with water resistance up to 30 meters characterizes this watch. The original model, which was made in the 1930s using a pocket watch mechanism that had exceptional maritime chronometer accuracy, is the inspiration for its design. Arabic numerals and the instantly identifiable Feuille hands adorn the black dial of this timepiece. A chronograph watch from IWC Schaffhausen is easily recognizable by its ergonomically designed crown and flawlessly curved lugs.
The 41mm model features a chronograph with minutes at 12 o’clock and seconds at 6 o’clock. To activate the functions, you can find polished push pieces on the case at 2 and 4 o’clock. An in-house movement from IWC’s 69000 Calibre family promises unparalleled precision. Exhibiting its 28,800 vibrations per hour, the 69335 self-winding engine is housed in a sapphire-backed casing. The watch is removable and interchangeable with another beloved timepiece from the IWC Schaffhausen collection, thanks to its remarkable 46-hour power reserve. The watch is finished off with an elegant black Santoni leather band that is hand-made in Italy. It is secured with a classic pin buckle that bears the engraving of the IWC logo.
3. IWC WATCH PORTUGIESER AUTOMATIC 40
With its characteristic minutes scale and little seconds at “6 o’clock” and a clean, open dial, the Reference 325 from IWC in the late 1930s set a classic design style that has been carried over through the Portugieser family’s history. Now available in an automatic version with a small case diameter of 40 millimeters, the series welcomes the ever-present contemporary style. The Portugieser Automatic 40 runs on the 82200 caliber, made by IWC. This sturdy, high-quality automatic movement boasts a 60-hour power reserve thanks to its Pellaton winding technology and ceramic components. Stainless steel is used to construct the casing of this model, which has a green dial and appliqués and hands that are rhodium-plated. An eco-friendly alligator leather strap adorns it. Comfort is paramount when wearing this watch, and the butterfly folding clasp is the key.
4. IWC WATCH AQUATIMER CHRONOGRAPH
When it comes to underwater or on land, the masses have relied on the IWC Aquatimer line since the original IWC diving watch was launched in the 1960s. Not only that, but this IWC Aquatimer Chronograph is a high-performance chronograph complication driven by one of IWC’s own manufacture movements, and it comes with a plethora of functions that are required for diving. The Swiss-made 79320 automatic winding calibre movement has three secondary displays for tiny seconds, 30 minutes, and 12 hours counters, as well as a day and date window at 3 o’clock. The central hands for the hours, minutes, and chronograph seconds are also present. The movement still has a power reserve of 44 hours, even though it powers a lot of complexity.
An orange accented, nautical blue sunray dial with big Superluminova hands displays the chronograph functions. In addition to a 60-minute scale and the highly sought-after SafeDive technology, the blue internal rotating bezel of the IWC Aquatimer Chronograph watch allows for the safe measurement of dive times.
