Beginning with a spool of thread, they were able to develop the most comfortable mattress in the world. The first spool of thread they ever sold went to a mattress factory in Derbyshire. Their family’s thread business quickly became a global phenomenon.

Over 50 million mattresses in more than 35 nations have been made with it. You may probably expect to find that thread in your mattress tonight. Then they had the bright idea of making their own mattresses out of this thread. In 2002, they started designing and supplying mattresses.

There was a lot of success. Over a million mattresses were sold, but they always had their sights set higher. Their goal was to design an ideal bed. An ergonomic, supportive, and reasonably priced high-tech mattress.

In order to make the best mattress possible, they collaborated with three market leaders. Innovative style. Foam. Springs. All in the sake of getting a good night’s rest.

They began with the three foam layers, testing various combinations of PU foam, high density foam, synthetic foam, and natural foams until they found the optimal solution. But they realized they had to improve upon a foam tower.

They incorporated springs, engineering a spring specifically to fit within a rolled mattress in collaboration with one of the world’s foremost spring producers. This was a major breakthrough. Their new conical pocket spring provides the essential finishing touch, unlocking the key to a restful night’s sleep.

It’s impossible to get a good night’s rest if your bedroom is too warm. Because of this, they created the incredible Simbatex foam, which is a ‘open cell’ foam and so allows thirty times as much airflow as memory foam (almost breeze-like for a bed). In addition, it is loaded with graphite, a naturally occurring mineral that their sleep scientists found to be effective at removing excess heat from the body.

More than 10 million sleepers’ profiles were used in the development of their prototypes. This data set contains 180 million body profile data points.

Their testing helped them make even more refinements to the mattress. The memory foam at the base of the mattress was recently replaced. The spring unit was modified to be even more malleable so that it could conform to the shape of the sleeper’s body. Better sleep and greater comfort resulted from this.
