Avanti Travel Insurance Review: Is Deluxe Single-Trip Cover Worth the Quote?

We examine Avanti Travel Insurance’s Deluxe Single-Trip policy, from its cover limits to the quote process, so you can judge whether it fits one planned holiday.

For a single holiday, the appeal of travel insurance is straightforward: one policy built around one destination, one set of dates and the traveller’s circumstances. The harder question is deciding how much cover is enough. Avanti Travel Insurance makes that choice through three single-trip levels, with Deluxe at the top.

Our focus here is the specific Deluxe Single-Trip policy. We have looked at the benefits Avanti lists, the people it appears designed for and the points that deserve a closer read before a quote becomes a purchase.

At a glance

  • Deluxe Single-Trip lists unlimited emergency medical and repatriation expenses.
  • Cancellation and cutting a holiday short are listed up to £7,500 per person.
  • Personal baggage cover is listed at £3,000, with no excess shown for Deluxe.
  • Prices are quote-led and depend on destination, dates, age and medical screening.
  • Avanti also offers Annual Multi-Trip, Medical and Cruise policies.

What Deluxe Single-Trip actually gives you

The clearest reason to choose Deluxe Single-Trip is the ceiling on the core risks. Avanti lists unlimited medical emergency and repatriation cover, compared with £5 million on Essentials and £10 million on Classic. That does not make every claim automatic, but it does make the top tier easier to understand for travellers who would rather not trade down on medical limits.

The cancellation limit is also materially higher. Deluxe lists up to £7,500 per person for cancellation and cutting a holiday short, versus £1,000 on Essentials and £5,000 on Classic. For a long-haul trip, a cruise or a holiday with non-refundable bookings, that difference is more relevant than a generic “comprehensive” label. The policy wording remains the place to check exclusions and eligibility.

  • Medical emergency and repatriation: unlimited on Deluxe, according to Avanti’s table of benefits.
  • Cancellation and curtailment: up to £7,500 per person.
  • Personal baggage: up to £3,000.
  • Personal liability: £2 million.
  • Excess: nil on Deluxe in the published comparison.

Other listed benefits include money and passport cover up to £600, missed departure up to £1,500, and cover for Covid-related medical expenses, repatriation and cancellation subject to the policy terms. Classic and Deluxe also include certain delay and accommodation benefits that are not listed on Essentials.

Medical screening is part of the quote rather than a detail to leave until departure.

That makes the service particularly relevant to travellers who need the Pre-existing Medical Conditions Travel Insurance route. Avanti says it can cover more than 1,300 medical conditions, subject to screening, and that 97% of customers who declare a condition are offered cover. Those are brand-stated figures, not a guarantee for an individual application, so every condition and change in health should be declared accurately. Read the medical cover details before starting a quote.

Review Deluxe Single-Trip cover details

The buying experience is quote-led

Avanti does not publish a universal price for Deluxe Single-Trip on the policy page. The amount is generated through a quote that takes account of the journey, destination, age and medical information. That is normal for travel insurance, but it means readers cannot use this review to predict a premium from the benefit table alone. Use the current Deluxe quote route for a personal figure.

The online journey is the obvious starting point, with telephone support also advertised. Avanti says customers can manage policies through MyAvanti, and notes that phone changes may carry a £15 fee while online changes can be made without that additional charge. This is a useful practical distinction for anyone likely to adjust dates or details after buying.

Before accepting a quote, we recommend checking these points in order:

  1. Enter every destination on the trip, including places where you plan to pass through immigration.
  2. Declare pre-existing conditions and tell Avanti if your health changes before departure.
  3. Match the cancellation limit to the money you would genuinely lose.
  4. Read the policy wording for activity exclusions, alcohol-related claims and known disruption.

Travel dates and destination shape the quote and the cover that follows.

Avanti currently advertises a sale code, SHINE20, for 20% off new travel insurance policies until 30 September 2026, excluding costs for medical conditions and add-ons. Because promotions can have conditions and end dates, check the live quote journey before relying on the discount. The offer is helpful context, but it is not a substitute for comparing the final premium and policy limits.

Where the other Avanti policies fit

Deluxe Single-Trip makes most sense when there is one defined journey to insure. See the single-trip cover page for the current benefit table. If you expect several holidays in the next year, Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance is the more relevant comparison. Avanti describes it as cover for an entire year’s trips, with cancellation cover for future bookings once the policy is in force. You can compare annual cover with the quote for one trip.

Medical needs are not a separate afterthought. The Pre-existing Medical Conditions Travel Insurance page is the better starting point for screening and condition-specific questions, even when the eventual trip is just one holiday. For a cruise, the dedicated Cruise Travel Insurance offering adds the cruise-specific context a general policy page cannot provide. It is worth reading the cruise cover information if a ship is part of the itinerary.

Annual cover is a supporting alternative for travellers planning multiple journeys.
  • One holiday: start with Deluxe Single-Trip.
  • Several trips: price Annual Multi-Trip against separate single-trip quotes.
  • Medical history: use the medical screening route and disclose changes.
  • Cruise itinerary: inspect the dedicated cruise cover and its terms.

That range is useful supporting context, but it does not change the central review point: only the quote can show whether Deluxe is competitive for your itinerary.

Who it suits, and what to question

We see a good fit for a traveller with one expensive or medically complex holiday, particularly where cancellation exposure is above £5,000 or where unlimited emergency medical cover is a priority. It can also suit older travellers who want a specialist screening journey rather than a stripped-back budget policy.

  • Pros: high cancellation limit, unlimited medical and repatriation cover on Deluxe, nil excess listed, and online policy management.
  • Watch-out: no public fixed price, medical cover is subject to screening, and add-ons or conditions can change the quote.
  • Check first: exclusions for known disruption, unattended belongings, alcohol or drugs, and activities that need optional cover.

A high-value itinerary makes cancellation and specialist cover limits worth comparing closely.

The main limitation is the lack of a standard premium. We cannot call Deluxe the cheapest option without a like-for-like quote, and the largest limits only matter if the underlying claim meets the policy terms. A lower tier may be sufficient for a short, low-cost break.

Our verdict

Avanti Travel Insurance’s Deluxe Single-Trip policy is a credible fit for one higher-value holiday where medical limits and cancellation protection matter more than a headline price. Its published figures are concrete: unlimited emergency medical and repatriation cover, £7,500 cancellation cover, £3,000 baggage cover and no excess shown for Deluxe.

The honest caveat is that this is a quote-led product. We would judge it on the final premium, the medical screening result and the exact exclusions for the trip, not on the benefit table alone. If the quote reflects your needs and the policy wording matches your plans, Deluxe is the Avanti offering that deserves the closest look. Check the latest single-trip terms before deciding.
